The Akureyri Track is located at Hlíðarfjallsvegur, the exit to the track parking is to the left when you are driving up the mountain. If you reach the Ski Resort in Hlíðarfjall at the top, you have gone to far, so go back down.
The Akureyri Track annually hosts the biggest car events in Iceland, usually a whole week before or after June 17th. The week is called Bíladagar (Car Days) and has 1/4 mile races, drift, burnout and a big car show celebrating Icelands Independence Day. A mud run has also been added recently.
